It is hard to believe how fast the last few weeks have been, cliche I know. However, the rotation of the hands on the clock seems to slow down everytime I stare at it waiting for the next three days to pass, take that for a juxtaposition.
I know for a certain fact - although obviously reliant on the health of my family and the traffic - that I will have moved into my Second Floor Flat this time on Wednesday. Probably in a state of half unpack and attempting to give all my earthly belongings a home for the next year.
Cardiff calls, rather loud and clear.
Everything at home has started up again: school, church, Brownies. It feels odd to be involved for a few hours in these things for the last couple of weeks, only to be turning my back on it all for new beginnings. I've waved hello and now vanishing in a poof of Welsh smoke, away from all those familiar faces.
It's been good to catch up with the rest of Preston though, even if it is now a swift exit.
All left to pack now is some clothes and my desktop.
Goodbye Preston, see you at Christmas.

40
1. Tomorrow morning I am catching a train, with Ali.
2. We're going to Edinburgh.
3. To the Fringe Festival.
4. And this exact time tomorrow I will be sat watching Terry Pratchett's Lords and Ladies.
5. I've been wanting to go to Edinburgh Festival for years.
6. However, I've wanted to go and see Marcus Brigstocke since I was nine.
7. And I'm seeing him twice this weekend.
8. Tom Price made my day two days in a row.
9. I watch West Wing with the subtitles on, he doesn't.
10. I'm going to have my first filling today.
11. I absolutely cannot wait to move to Cardiff in 34 days.
12. I thoroughly believe that these next three years are going to be the best so far.
13. And the most geeky years, starting off with a John Barrowman signing on the first day of term.
14. I have tickets to see John Barrowman in pantomime twice and Gareth David-Lloyd in pantomime once over the Christmas season.
15. I'm not going to Leeds this year, as I care for only two of the bands playing.
16. I'm trying to think up a name for my new Netbook.
17. My Nikon D40 is called Cpt. Jack.
18. My Samsung Tocco, in Noble Black, is called Donna.
19. And my iPod is called iAnto.
20. And I really couldn't care less how geeky that sounds.
21. I'm glad RCG discovered Florence and the Machine before they were famous, the smallest gigs are always the best.
22. I've drunk more coffee this year than I ever thought possible.
23. I miss Archbishop Temple infinitely more from the last year, than I ever did when I left as a pupil.
24. I now love English again, I rediscovered it in the last two years, once the echoes of Ms Das had left.
25. I hate not having enough money to travel.
26. I've printed off nearly two hundred photographs to take to University.
27. Poetry has been a lifeline for me this year.
28. I adore taking photographs, but frequently don't make enough time for it.
29. Blur have grown on me.
30. I have three things I collect these days: Doctor Who/Torchwood stuff, mugs and t-shirts.
31. I want to leave uni with a Welsh accent, I don't like sounding even slightly as if I'm from Lancashire.
32. I had plans to go minimalist at Uni, then I went to Ikea.
33. I didn't realise getting into Philosophy would simply provide more unanswerable questions, rather than actually help me find an opinion.
34. I've learnt to be the epitome of unopinionated. However, I often argue for the sake of it, to provoke debate - I like to be the devil's advocate.
35. My walking boots still have Leeds mud on them, I'm going to fix this after I've done this.
36. I'm pleased Ice Cream Chewits are back.
37. I've worked out this year who matters.
38. I also now, have a lifeplan. University, English PGCE and hopefully stay in Wales.
39. My lunch is going to be fantastic, omlette and Tom Baker.
40. I absolutely cannot wait for Cardiff, to meet all these new people - especially Ami and Ciara. And see some more of Bex and James. It's going to be FANTASTIC.

Waiting.
This summer so far seems to be going at snail's pace. It's very odd, because before the summer I wanted time to slow down as I really didn't want to leave work, but now - for probably the first time in my life - I want the holidays to hurry up so I can go off to Cardiff. Nearly everything is in place now and I'm ready to go! Went shopping last week to IKEA and bought up nearly everything I need for my kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. Abundant plans have been forged, friendships formed and now I'm impatient.
Apart from, EDINBURGH. Only five days until Ali and I are there :)) everything is booked, we have a place to stay, a train to come and go upon and even an itinerary because I'm anal about organ

What have you missed otherwise about my summer? Not a whole lot, to be honest.
Apart from Mary & Steve's wedding, which was absolutely lovely. Ceremony at Canterbury Registry Office, Blessing up on Dover Cliff's and reception/party in the White Cliffs TeaRoom. Divine!
Also, had a day out with RCG to Blackpool - went to the Sealife Centre *grin* and looked at all the fishies and went shopping for things for Mary's wedding to put on the table.
Went to the Trafford Centre with Dave last week, which was awesome. Finally re-discovered 'Fluff' - marshmallow spread from my early childhood - a delicious American import that they stock in Selfridges Food, om nom nom.
Oh, and Martin sent me a text saying that his wife, Lisa, had given birth to a lovely little baby girl - who is absolutely adorable! Bethany Rose :)
So, to be honest, life is pretty peachy. Just, apart from going away to Edinburgh/Whitby with the parents and Greenbelt, I want to leave home! I mainly just want to be in Cardiff and meet all these exciting new people! Only 38 days!
Slowly, I'm sorting out my study and next week my bedroom, so that everything is hunky dory by the time I leave it all behind. Getting there, very odd that now I feel I can be so ruthless with things as I know I'm not going to take them to Wales, so why bother keeping them?
Trying to chill out, got my jazz hat on this weekend and now I'm sampling some Gershwin for my delight.

I genuinely wish I was in the era of being courted and taken to tea dances to post-war jazz. In a pretty dress, by a gentleman. Not by a gentleman in a dress, James :)
Yellow paged novels, with bent over corners and underlined passages.
Bitter poetry, modern poetry, words with a twist - rhyming not preferable.
Hot beverages in satisfying mugs, sweet milky tea or strong coffee.
Raindrops on hot tarmac on summer days and getting soaked.
Photographing dramatic skies and haunting sunsets.
Long train journeys through buzzing cities and charming countryside.
Beautiful feisty heroines and chivalrous gentlemen.
Intoxication on dark nights, with sparkling candles and pretty dresses.
Winter coats with long, colourful knitted scarves and tramping through autumn leaves on the way to warm cafes.
Adventures of every nature.
Britain - its wild moors, rugged coastline, expansive hills and dales, the rural villages and cosmopolitan bustle.
Letters, postcards, missives, post-it notes, love messages.
The written words from one person to another.
Echoing cathedrals, empty country chapels, stately homes and ruined castles.
The idiot's lantern, the magic lantern show, the pictures plunged into darkness.
Traditional English food, delicious cakes and oriental dishes.
Music echoing in grand halls or just in my ears - jazz, banging drums, gruff voices, beautiful lyrics, powerful message, strumming guitar.
Imagination, pretending every passing fantasy is reality.
Just a few of my favourite things today, no quote.

Unemployment
Had a relaxing and exciting few days since I finished work!
During the day on Monday, went into town with Mum, had my eyes tested - picked some new glasses, tortoiseshell frames and some reactionary glasses, with black/red frames. Bought a few things to take to University. Then in the afternoon went to the dentist, I have to have a filling the afternoon before we go to Edinburgh, shucks!
Monday night went out for a drink with Ali to catch up, had a few ciders in the Sherwood and a good chat. Apart from being hit on by a very drunk chav and quarter to nine, silly person.
Which reminds me, VERY excited about Edinburgh in about four weeks! It's going to be a fantastic few days!
Yesterday, slept in until 12.30 then ate and cleaned the bathroom most of the afternoon. Then, went out on a vaguely planned night out. Met Mac, Shaun and Bex H at the bus station, went to Wethers for a few drinks. Then went down to Roper, where we met Dave, had a couple of games of pool and a few more drinks. Finally went up to PR1, which is about to turn into Rumes, for Where's Mavis?, which was really fun. Met both Jodie/Amy/Laura and Matt/Adam in there. After people disappearing at various points of the evening, went home about 2.30am.
Went to the Doctor's today, I'm being sent to podiatry to try and sort out my foot, hopefully before I head off to Uni. Although I've been advised to get hold of some foot supports in the meantime, great! I'm falling apart!
Looking even more forward to Cardiff after talking some more to Ami and Ciara! Ami and I are making lots of plans related to Doctor Who and Torchwood. I'm now going to see JB in Robin Hood twice, once with Ami on the 12th December (first night!), then with Bex on 22nd January, the day exams finish! But JB is also doing a book signing on 5th October in Borders, Cardiff, which we're planning to go to. And we're going to have a Whoniverse day sometime in Freshers Week - go and Build a Torchwood Bear in the Bear Workshop, and go down to the Bay to have a coffee and visit the Hub and take Ami to the Doctor Who Exhibition. It's going to be BRILLIANT.
I leave you with this poem:
The mower stalled, twice; kneeling, I found
A hedgehog jammed up against the blades,
Killed. It had been in the long grass.
I had seen it before, and even fed it, once.
Now I had mauled its unobtrusive world
Unmendably . Burial was no help:
Next morning I got up and it did not.
The first day after a death, the new absence
Is always the same; we should be careful
Of each other, we should be kind
While there is still time.

The Final Day
Yesterday was really emotional.
Finally finished up the library, with a hand from some brilliant Year 10s. Pretty much finished sorting out setting and timetabling for September - my legacy that hopefully it'll run smoothly when everybody starts back!
After an early lunch, we all met in the 'new' library for staff get together. Which included a goodbye to both Martin and I. Simon did Grime's speech, and he did mine. And it was wonderful, it made me weep! Although not obviously, because I was trying to keep confident enough to be able to say thank you.
Transcript of Martin's speech:
Those that have worked with and taught Anna will know exactly about the hardworking, selfless and caring individual that the school is losing. In short, Anna represents everything that Archbishop promotes - collegiality, dedication and success through hard graft.
In the short time Anna has been here, she has had a Mary Poppinesque effect on our department. If she is no co-ordinating and writing the Department's pantomime, creating costume and much more, she is appraising the stock room. If she is not tagging the entire school population, she is creating wonderful and inspiring resources for our department to use. If she is not bringing in delicious and juicy cakes for the department to eat, she is always there to listen to us when we moan and whinge about anything and everything.
I feel the school will only realise what a valuable assest they have had until you are gone. Your legacy will always live on in Rooms 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 39 but there will always be an Anna-shaped hole missing in our lives.
As you embark on your new and exciting journey and the University of Cardiff, wherever that may take you, I wish you the same thing I wish for all people - happiness.
So, Anna, thank you and I'll leave you with a traditional Irish blessing:
'May you always have work for your hands to do,
May your pockets always hold a coin or two,
May the sun shine bright on your windowpane,
May the rainbow be certain to follow each rain,
May the hand of a friend always be near you,
And may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.'
It was beautiful.
My department had bought me a Converse money box - as I wore Converse to work an awful lot, a Hemp bag and a brilliant tourist guide to Wales. Together with a TARDIS card :))
After that, we went to the pub for a while and Martin was BEATEN by a kingsize Mixed Grill, which amused us greatly. We said our final goodbyes then went home.

Residence
Finally got a message from Cardiff to tell me where I will be living come September. I will be a resident of Colum Hall, which is going to be fantastic.
Already speaking to one of my flat mates, Ciara, who is absolutely lovely. I first knew about her when James text me at work earlier to tell me there was somebody on Facebook who was going to live in my flat! The wonders of modern technology, I'll already know her by the time we move in, apparently on the same day! It's crazy to talk to someone two months before you've even met, which is when you're going to move in together...! We seem to have a fair few things in common too, which is just brilliant.
I'm feeling very excited about university now! Which is good, because I'm absolutely devastated that tomorrow is my final (half a) day of work at Archbishop. That's another thing that seems mad, that a year has passed and now, along with Grimey, must leave! I'm sure I'll burst into tears at some point tomorrow.
However, it has been an amazing year. As I wrote on Martin's leaving card, "full of laughter, dancing and food", but it has also been a huge learning curve for me. I actually feel so immature that I feel like an adult.
If it hadn't have been for losing two grandparents during the last year, it would probably have been the best year of my life so far. But in that way, working at Archbishop in it's fantastic English Department, with some of the loveliest people in the world, has saved me - oh, a thousand times.
So here's goodbye to some brilliant times, but here's to keeping in touch while moving on to new and exciting things.

Drinking and Dancing
Yesterday was absolutely fantastic.
Last couple of days have been pretty peachy, apart from Ianto dying on Torchwood which is absolutely NOT APPROVED of.
At work it has been 'courses days', which basically means that Martin and I have been making pop-up books, while drinking coke, eating chocolate and listening to music.
Then, last night was our Department night out, as both Martin and I are finishing at ATS next Friday, sigh.
After work we got changed, went to the Garrison for a drink. Then went up to the Sherwood for a couple of drinks and food, which was mine and Martin's treat to Simon/Tracey/Ryan for the last year. Then we headed into town for a severe drinking session!
Started at O'Neills, where we mainly played drinking games - partly fingers with Rock/Paper/Scissors and then Arrogance, which Martin failed at 'cos he didn't want to mix drinks. By this time I was a little unaware of things, so I started slowing down and drank soft drinks for a while, when we went to the D&P and the Black Bull. Finally, we went to Greyfriars where I started drinking again and we had a sort of dance-off/we all made a tit of ourselves!

I'm really going to miss them.
The picture seems to pretty much sum up the night. After the dancing session was completed our salsa dancing failed, so there was a picture taken instead.
Otherwise, I seem to pretty much only have videos of our dancing attempts - well everyone BUT mine's. XD
Martin and Simon are somewhat the worse for wear now, bless them!
The other three of us even managed to get to the school summer fair this morning! We're far more hardcore - but we also went straight home, as opposed to t'others who drank more!
Now, it's time to go and bake some delicious food-stuffs for the Brownies cake stall tomorrow.
But I leave you with an act of my stupidity...
When playing fingers last night, Martin kept asking us questions before he did Rock/Paper/Scissors with us.
He said to me, "What band did you first here this morning?"
I said, "Blur, oh no wait, my alarm is Scissor Sisters!"
